This Chelsea Girl is Drunk On Holo and Feelin' Groovy!!

Sorry for the silly title, but the names of these polishes just work so well together!! Anyways… I love the look of water marbles, but I ofter shy away from doing them out of fear of how difficult they can be.  But now that I own these fab Color Club neons, I seem to have been bitten by the water marble bug.

Pantone 2016

For 2016 Pantone selected 2 colors to represent the year. The colors are Serenity, a pale periwinkle blue, and Rose Quartz, a pastel pink. Honestly I like this mani, but I feel like this color combo is only appropriate for a baby shower. Nothing about it feels glamorous or high fashion. Enjoy my Pantone fairy princess at a baby shower mani :)

What do you think of the colors Pantone picked?

OPI Hello Kitty Collection

I picked up 4 of the polishes from the new OPI Hello Kitty Collection. I'm not the biggest pink or purple polish person so I found it easy to skip most of this collection. Of the 4 polishes I picked up, the colors may not be super exciting but the formulas are great! Also, I wanted to see how these polishes would water marble and I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing these did! This marble only took 1 try!! Here are my swatches and comparisons.

5 Apples Tall
I did 3 coats but you definitely do not need to. With careful application and thicker coats you could get this to be a 1 coaters.

My Pal Joey
Again this is 3 coats, because that is how I always paint my nails. I'm so glad OPI is coming out with new blue creams this year!

Lets Be Friends
Again 3 coats. For a polish with so much white in the base, it isn't goopy or particularly streaky. This is hands down my favorite from the collection. I love how feminine and clean it looks.

Never Have Too Mani Friends!
Love this! This is 2 coats! Black nails are my go to mani if I'm lacking inspiration. I have OPI Lady In Black and the formula is kind of gummy... but the formula of NHTMF is so much better! I initially skipped this polish but I found it marked down 60% at a store that was closing so I had to snatch it up. While this black will probably not be my go to, it's pretty solid and I'm glad to have it.

I chose to compare these polishes to existing OPIs in my collection.
5 Apples Tall is on my ring finger, Red Lights Ahead... Where? on my pointer ringer, Red My Fortune Cookie on my middle finger and Cajun Shrimp on my pinky.
Its hard to tell from the picture, but these do look more different in person. This is one of my favorite color families so I am always happy to add more to my collection, but you really don't need all of these colors as they are so similar.

My Pal Joey on my pointer and pinky, Keeping Suzi At Bay on my middle finger and Ogre The Top Blue on my ring finger.
Clearly not dupes, but they were the closest options I had from OPI. I am curious to see how Joey compares to Rich Girls and Po Boys from the upcoming New Orleans collection.

Lets Be Friends on my middle and pinky, Mod About You on my pointer and ring finger.
I thought these would be more similar from the bottles but Friends is clearly much lighter. I always thought Mod About You was my ideal pale pink, but now that I have Friends, Mod seems so bright and not super flattering on me.

Painted Polish 2016

It's no secret that Painted Polish is one of my favorite indie polish lines. Last year I wore Painted Polish 2015 to ring in the new year, so naturally I had to wear 2016 for this new year. This polish did not disappoint. From swatch pics I thought it was a silver linear holo with silver holo glitters in it, the same type of formula as 2015. I was so surprised by how complex this polish is, its crazy holo but it also has flakies in it! Such a complex and interesting polish.

Favorite Manicures of 2015

Hello! Once again I'm attempting to get back on the blogging train. I've been so busy lately with work and school that my nails, blogging, and instagram have really not been a priority. But new year new organization! I'm going to try and stay consistent this time.

Here are my favorite manis of 2015, not all of them have been shared blog, but they have all been posted on my instagram.

Cheers to 2016! May your nails never break, may your polish not chip, and my your cuticles stay smooth and hydrated :)

OPI Starlight Collection Swatches and Comparisons

I'm back!!! I know it has been forever since I last blogged, but I'm back to try and get into the swing of things again. I have been crazy busy with work and grad school and my nails have been suffering. In an attempt to find some balance in my life I'm going to try and blog again. I feel more like myself when I have a creative outlet like nail art.

I picked up 5 polishes from the upcoming OPI Starlight Collection for Holiday 2015. I was pleasantly surprised by the interesting mix of polishes in this collection, while most aren't my personal style it was nice to see OPI branching out from red in a holiday collection.

Grab a snack, this is going to be long and picture heavy :)

Swatches:
Center of the You-Niverse
3 thin coats. A deep gray jelly base full of silver micro flakes and small black glitters. At 1 coat I hated it, but with 3 I am totally in love because the black glitters fade into the background.
1 coat:

Give Me Space
3 thin coats. Deep blue jelly with silver/holo flakes. Rich, smooth, shiny, perfection.

Guys and Galaxies
3 perfect glossy coats. This dark chocolatey burgundy is pure perfection. While I may already have polishes like this, vampy cremes are my favorite so I'm always happy to have another one.

Love is in the Cards
3 thin coats. This is a glossy, opaque crelly blue based red. I have a lot of OPI reds but I don't think I have any dupes for this- some may be close in color but this formula is what sets it apart. It isn't a pure creme polish, but it isn't really a crelly either, it is some magical perfect formula that is between the 2.

Cosmo With a Twist
3 thin coats. This is a bluish purple jelly base full of blue and purple duo chrome micro flakies. This is not my type of polish, but the formula was really easy to work with and I see it being very popular. Could be a dupe of OPI Ink or Unripened, but I don't have either of those to compare.

Comparisons:
Center of the You-Niverse vs Baby It's Coal Outside
Center of the You-Niverse is on the pointer and ring fingers, Baby It's Coal Outside is on the middle and pinky fingers. These look awfully close when the mani is finishes, but the formulas are different. Coal doesn't have the chunky black glitter that COTY has, and it has smaller/fewer silver flakes. If you have one I really don't think you need both, but if BICO has been a lemming for you, then this should hit the spot.

Give Me Space vs Zoya Dream
OPI is on my pointer and ring fingers, Zoya is on my middle and pinky fingers. These are close but aren't dupes. Zoya is a brighter blue and has larger holo particles. I love both and think they are different enough if you love blues and/or scattered holos. I think the Zoya is a little younger and bolder, but the OPI is really rich and sophisticated.

Guys and Galaxies vs I Sing In Color vs China Glaze Prey Tell
Guys and Galaxies on my pointer and ring fingers, I Sing In Color on my middle finger and Prey Tell on my pinky. I Sing In Color is much  darker, it looks almost black when compared. Prey Tell and Galaxies are pretty much dupes, PT is one of my favorite CHG polishes so I'm glad to have a back up.

What color from this collection is your favorite? Also, if you have any other comparison requests please let me know in the comments :)
